FAQs about HIV+ Care

Have even more questions? Find answers about Freddie’s virtual HIV+ Care.

Is virtual care right for me?

While we strive to serve as many patients as possible, virtual care may not be a good fit for you if:

  • If you are under 18 years of age

  • If your CD4 count is less than 200 and not currently on treatment

  • If you have untreated tuberculosis or active cancer

  • If you are or have a chance of being pregnant

How much does HIV+ care cost?

There is no cost to receive HIV+ care through Freddie, and most required medications are covered for those that have public health insurance within their province of residence.

Where is Freddie HIV+ Care available?

Freddie’s virtual HIV+ Care program is currently available to residents of Florida and Virginia.

Is Freddie HIV+ Care just for gay men?

No! Freddie’s virtual HIV+ Care program is for anyone living with HIV, no matter your gender, sexuality or body type. Our skilled clinicians can provide care for the entire HIV community.

Why should I switch to Freddie’s HIV+ Care?

At Freddie, our clinicians specialize in providing quality, affirming care for HIV prevention and treatment.

We take care of everything to make sure accessing care is easy and convenient for you – from reminding you when your next lab visit should be, to ensuring you never run out of your prescription.

No more line ups at the clinic just to get a lab requisition or review your results, Freddie’s HIV+ Care program handles that virtually for you.

I’m newly diagnosed as HIV+, is Freddie right for me?

Our clinicians are here to support you. While not all patients may be eligible for virtual care, if you’re a match you’ll be able to book an appointment as early as 1 to 2 weeks out and issued a lab requisition right away for any additional blood work that’s required. This allows our Freddie clinicians to get you started on treatment as soon as possible.

What are the wait times for Freddie’s HIV+ Care?

Patients can typically sign up for an appointment as soon as 1-2 weeks out! We intentionally book appointments at least one week out to ensure you can complete blood work. This allows your clinician to discuss up-to-date lab results with you during your consultation and personalize your treatment plan.

What does Freddie’s HIV+ Care treatment plan include?

Our expert clinicians tailor a treatment plan to your individual needs. In addition to determining the right medication, HIV+ Care includes regular check-ins, ongoing lab testing, and counseling and support for questions or concerns along the way to make your care easy, accessible, and judgement-free.
